Walking with Penguins
- Duration : 4 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Queenstown
- Product code : Penguins
We depart Queenstown and travel along one of the most stunning roads in Queenstown to the head of the lake and Glenorchy. Here we board a flight to Martins Bay, and the head of the Hollyford track where we are able to encounter the native Fiordland Crested Penguins in their natural habitat. We should also encounter seals and other native species, e.g. Wood Pigeons, Kakariki &/or Fantails.
If time we enjoy an eco-encounter walk through native bush & relax with a delicious snack at a scenic location. The trip includes a stunning flight over the Southern Alps with the option to stop at Milford Sound or on a glacier for an additional cost, often a high point for an amazing photo opportunity.
The best time of year to see the penguins is during the breeding season from July to November. They may also occasionally be seen during the moulting season from mid-January to early March. More detail about the penguins is on the DOC website
Upgrades available to include stopping at Milford Sound and/ or a Glacier landing
